Gearing up to fish the PBC HS Classic

Well the high school tournament season is beginning to close at a fast pace. This year of fishing has flown by. Coming up on May 19th-20th, several of my teammates and I will all be fishing the Palmetto Boat Center High School Tournament Trail Classic so I wanted to talk a little bit about my preparation for this tournament. This tournament is on the home lake of the majority of the field. As I prepare I am doing several things to get ready. First off, I am physically preparing myself. I am reading reports, looking at maps, observing lake levels, weather, and other conditions, and looking up past history personally on this lake. I am also organizing my tackle and talking with other anglers to see what's going on out on the lake. The preparation I am really focusing on is mental prep. I am gaining confidence and thinking through every possible scenario. One thing I am bad about is fishing history. I usually will fish the same spots that I always go to so I am really challenging myself to step out of my comfort zone and fish new water. Since this is a 2 day event, I really think that finding several productive areas will be key for placing well in this event. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to me and my team this year. Your help has been vital to keep me going and chasing the bigguns! Wish me luck in the Classic and hope to see you there!
